About Grasswood Tea

Tea with time, place and purpose

Tell the story of Grasswood Tea through thoughtfully written paragraphs, meaningful headings and a calm, considered voice.

Taiwanese tea, brought to Stockholm.

Tea, rooted in place.

Grasswood Tea is a Stockholm-based tea company bringing carefully selected Taiwanese teas to Sweden.

We believe a tea begins long before the cup. It begins in the soil, in the climate and landscape, in the hands that tend the plants, and in the craft of turning fresh leaves into something that can be shared.

FROM TAIWAN

Taiwan is a small island shaped by mountains, forests, ocean and changing climates. Tea grows across this landscape in remarkable diversity, with altitude, soil, weather, cultivar and craft leaving their trace in every cup.

A misty mountain garden can be light and floral. A traditionally roasted oolong can be deep, warm and mineral. A Taiwanese black tea can carry notes of ripe fruit, honey or spice.

There is no single taste of Taiwanese tea. There are many landscapes, traditions and ways of making it. We select teas that allow these differences to speak for themselves.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE LEAVES

We work with family-run tea gardens and producers in Taiwan, building relationships around quality, origin and care.

Knowing where a tea comes from matters. So does knowing how it was grown and made. Many gardens are certified according to Taiwan's national organic standard; others focus on soil health and biodiversity without holding an organic certification.

We want to be precise about the difference. Rather than making broad claims, we tell you what we know — and let the tea speak for itself.

WHY GRASSWOOD?

Grass grows close to the earth. Trees reach towards the sky. Both are rooted in the same ground.

For us, Grasswood is a quiet reminder of connection — between earth and plant, landscape and people, Taiwan and Sweden. Tea carries a landscape with it.

THE FOUNDER

Chih-Lin Yeh

Grasswood Tea was founded by Taiwanese artist Chih-Lin Yeh, who grew up in Taiwan and now lives in Stockholm. Moving between these two places shaped how she understands tea: as everyday culture, a gathering around a table, and a quiet ritual.

Her art explores relationships between people, nature, memory and material. Breath, stillness and the underwater world have become ways of noticing what is usually overlooked — a different way of slowing down.

For Chih-Lin, tea is a way of connecting with place, people, the senses and the present moment.

TEA AS AN EXPERIENCE

Tea can be the first cup in the morning, a pot shared with a friend, a quiet afternoon, or something brewed while working, reading or creating.

Through Grasswood Tea, we create tastings, workshops and collaborations in Stockholm, bringing Taiwanese tea into spaces connected with food, art, movement, wellbeing and culture.

We are interested in creating experiences where tea is not simply served, but experienced.

FROM TAIWAN TO STOCKHOLM

Grasswood Tea is a small independent company. We select the teas ourselves, work closely with our producers, and pack and share them from Stockholm.

Our intention is simple: to introduce more people to the depth and diversity of Taiwanese tea, make it easier to discover where a tea comes from, and create moments where there is enough time to taste, notice and connect.

A CUP CAN HOLD A PLACE.

A mountain. A garden. Rain. Sunlight. Hands. Time. And the people who came before you.

We invite you to taste slowly. Brew again. And discover what the leaves have to say.

  • The Philosophy Behind Our Cultivation
